You can free look a little on pc. My alt key is mapped to free look. In consoles (play4 at least) you can free look a bit. In Pc, you can't move from the standard view inside the ship. Only with Right click of your mouse, you can zoom a little You can't free look behind. yes you can. Press alt.

Here's the difficult decision: 1) Survival not only increases difficulty, it increases grind. 3rd person for walking around, 1st & 3rd for flying, 1st for derelict freighters. 3rd, then 1st while in the ship for planet charts! 3rd person for everything but base building, then I switch to 1st. I’ve always used 3rd person but when Desolation dropped, I started using 1st person to run derelict freighters.VL0hZJ.
