To remove the EGR means removing 6 bolts and loosening that hidden one. The photo also shows the cooler attached, just leave that part fastened to the engine. When refitting, get all the bolts in and still loose. If you tighten any up first it'll make it a lot harder to get the other bolts to start threading.
In this case, Ford uses the ELCM system, which is similar to the Toyota key-off vacuum pump system and is used during KOEO conditions. Ford’s 2011-13 Fiestas are equipped with the NVLD II system, which also relies on the Ideal Gas Law principle. The NVLD II module has a vacuum switch that closes when the gas vapor system cools down.

I plan to replace the EGR valve myself after being quote £1k by my local garage for the work. I've purchased a brand new, genuine Ford replacement from eBay for considerably less and watched a few

Hi, EGR valve is behind the engine, if you take the cover off, you will see it just behind the engine, half way down. Keep in mind that if you have and electronic EGR it will be harder to clean. Also if you take it out make sure you clean the hoses getting in and out of it also. Quick clip on where and how to remove and install a egr valve on a mk7 transit, not easy but doable if your a confident diy mechanic, give it ago could save
Not true. A correctly blanked EGRV is blanked prior to the operating valve & the recycled exhaust gases that would have passed through the EGRV into the inlet manifold now pass through the turbo into the exhaust system, therefore it is impossible for an EGRV to '' block up '' as the exhaust gases are not in contact with the EGRV valve as misguidedly claimed above
